I was delighted to find your website and even more delighted to find an article on "Memories of Carn School". My grandmother is from the townland of Carn and I'm assuming that all the O'Kane children went there. I am researching her family. But when an O'Kane marries a McCloskey in that area the possibities seem to be endless. I will call shortly regarding copies of your magazine. Thanks to all that have contributed to it.

To Mary Brolly, The Winding Roe magazines were received in great condition and I am enjoying them very much. Thank you for your kind and speedy attention to my request. Looking forward to the next issue.

Never knew there were so many McCloskey's. Guess if I used my family as an example, there are seven of us, and my dad was one of thirteen, I could have had a clue :-). Joy

To: Mary Brolly, sorry it has taken so long for me to publicly thank you for your quick response on getting the copies of "The Winding Roe" to me. I'm looking forward to the next one already. I didn't realize how many McCloskey's there are. Thanks to all the people of Dungiven for the rich memories contained between its covers. I would love to make a trip to Dungiven in the near future. Thanks to the Glenshane Group and Benbradagh websites for so much info.

My two sons and I visited Dungiven in October 2005 and visited the site of the historic "thatched chapel" at Cashel, where Patrick McCloskey taught in the 1830's. We are certain that he was my great grandfather, who migrated to America about 1839. Can anyone shed any further light on Patrick for me?

My sister, Joy McCloskey Sansone, told me of this site. Viewing it, I noticed the article written by Sean MacBhlocaidh. It was nice to see that the name lives on. Am I wrong that this is the root name of what was corrupted into McCloskey? I love my last name, but, wish it had remained as it was originally meant to be.

Sean, if you could, please send me some information regarding this. I am eagerly awaiting my copy of Winding Roe. My siblings and I will be visiting Dungiven sometime in 2007. Would like to have modern day ancestral visitations, both, of McCloskeys and MacBhlocaidh. With best regards, Charles Andrew McCloskey

I was so excited to find this site. There is such little information on Dungiven. Looking forward to receiving the Winding Roe Magazine. We are planning a trip in 2007 to visit the town of our ancestors.

Just received the 2005 edition of "The Winding Roe." Outstanding magazine! Kudos to the contributors and editorial committee on such a fine view of our "Dungiven homeland" for those of us in far countries.

Greetings from the Moin Ruadh (Munros) who left the Roe Valley nearly 1,000 years ago. Sorry we didn't write home but we were busy fighting off the Danes for King Malcom in Scotland. Things have settled down over the centurys so we'll try to write a little more often.
